Question ID: 317532
What are the circulation and also the readership numbers (there is
sometimes more that one reader for each newspaper) for the USA Today,
Wall Street Journal and New York Times? Where can I find this
information for these and for other major newspapers?

Hi GT3 ~

Audited circulation figures are available; however audited readership
figures aren't available, although there are some formulas (depending
on who you want to believe) to arrive at the actual readership
numbers.

If this will suffice as an answer (since there aren't verifiable
readership figures), I'll be happy to post the answer.

Thanks,

Serenata,

Thanks for the clarification. It makes sense that only actual
circulation can be audited.

If you have any data on readership, based on formulas or other
estimates, I would appreciate it. If you don't, just the audited
circulation figures and the sources of information will suffice.

2. The Wall Street Journal
3. The New York Times
4. Los Angeles Times
5. The Washington Post
6. Chicago Tribune
7. New York Daily News

A general presentation of readership numbers meanwhile is available
from Roy Morgan Research. You can also see that it also references the
Access ABC website. A ?Reader?s Per Copy? figure is also available.

However if you want to see some free detailed readership figures for
some of the newspapers, we have to go back to the ABC Access website.
Figures are not available to every newspaper in the top 10 like USA
Today Wall Street Journal and The New York Times but a lot of the
figures for other top newspapers can be seen here. I will limit the
links to the documents here to those within the top 20.
