With all the choices available, buying a new headset can be an
overwhelming task. At Headsets.com, we?re trying to simplify that
process by organizing headset choices more clearly. We?d like a
reviewer to write a review about our site, following the guidelines
below. Our typical user is a business person buying headsets for
themselves or for others, and the reviews need to be from this
perspective. We are NOT interested in reviews from a creative design
or highly technical point of view.

Please navigate to http://www.headsets.com. You?ll notice several
categories of headsets at the top of the page in our menu system.
Please click on each main category to view the "overview page" for
each type of headset we offer.

We?d like you to summarize for us the types of headsets we offer, what
components make up each group, and why they are necessary. This is a
very broad question because we?d like to know if customers are quickly
able to understand their choices.

We're looking for quality rather than quantity. We?d prefer you spent
less time navigating the site, because we?d like to know if you
understand your options in just a few minutes of browsing. We?ll tip
an extra $24 for a really excellent review.

Thanks!

Hi headsetswebmaster,

It seems like ages since I last looked at your website and I was happy
to go back and see how it's coming along. Well, I see that you've been
a busy beaver and headsets.com is really taking shape - good job!

Following are my notes and time spent at each category and afterward
you will find my summary. I'm going to come at this as if I've never
owned a headset in my life and am using your site to help me decide
what I need. Let's say I have one cordless phone, one corded phone,
one computer in my workplace and a cellphone in my car. Here we go...

CORDED HEADSETS FOR TELEPHONES

5 minutes:
Headsets plug into either the wall or phone. Handsfree but you can't walk around.

WIRELESS HEADSETS FOR TELEPHONES

5 minutes:
I'm alittle confused at the moment because the heading is Wireless
Headsets, but I see that they need to be plugged in. I'll have to read
more to understand this.
5 minutes:
Ok, this is great. If I buy one of these, I can turn my regular phone
into not only a cordless phone, but also handsfree phone. I'm still a
little unsure about the third option.
5 minutes:
What I have found confusing is that the heading says "wireless
headsets", but the third option (headsets to work with your cordless
phone) are not wireless - it needs to be plugged in. It's the phone
that is wireless, not the headset.

HEADSETS FOR CELL PHONES

3 minutes:
If I plug a headset into my cellphone (I would have to carry both with
me), the sound quality will improve. Will fit most phones.

HEADSETS FOR COMPUTERS

3 minutes:
This is terrific - digital headsets that can plug into the USB port.

BUYER'S GUIDE

3 minutes:
Headsets relieve stress on the spine.
Handsfree work.

15 minutes:
Just generally browsing around.

SUMMARY (after delving deeper)

I think I have a general idea of what I need to set my hypothetical
self up with headsets. I like the idea of having my hands free and
relieving the tension in my neck. I'm alittle confused about the star
system - I probably wouldn't even look at something if it only has
three stars, why waste my time if others didn't like it?

For my Corded Phone:

I can either purchase a headset with amplifier or I can buy them separately.
Headsets for telephones let the user work with both hands free
(without having to prop the phone between shoulder and ear), however,
I wouldn't be able to walk around because they are plugged into either
the wall or phone. An amplifier improves the quality of the sound, but
it isn't a requirement. Offered is a headset and amplifier set or I
can buy them separately - you also offer the set with a phone
included.

(note) I think the Complete System at the bottom of the page should be
referred to as the "System" and the Headset & Amplifier could be
referred to as a "Set" (it was a bit confusing to have them both
referred to as a system).

Options to consider before purchasing are weight, noise, and
earpieces. Since I use my corded phone the least, I will purchase the
"Headsets.com Executive 3 Elite Over-the-Head System" (4 stars). I
would've picked a Chattaway, but they only have 3 - 3.5 stars.

Wireless Headsets for Telephones:

I had trouble getting a handle on what you mean by "wireless" but
after reading your "recommendation" page, I feel less confused.

My cordless phone gets the most use, so I will be more concerned about
quality. Important options are talk time, range and weight/size. 150
ft range isn't very far, I'd like at least 200 ft. Again, I'll look
for a minimum of 4 stars, but that gives me only two options. One is
cheap, the other expensive. I'd like at least 8 hours of talk time, so
I guess I'll have to go with the five star Plantronics CS50 Wireless
Convertible Headset (reluctantly).

Your recommendation confirmed my decision.

Headsets for my Cellphone:

Weight/size, durability, noise, volume control seem important. I can't
find any with four or five stars, that's a bit worrisome. I use the
cellphone the least, so I don't want to spend alot. I'll take the
Plantronics Over-the-Head Cellular Headset with Inline Volume
Control(M114) because of the volume control, price, comfort & weight.

Your recommendation has made me change my mind to the Plantronics
In-the-Ear Cellular Headset (MX150) because I wear hats!

Headsets for my Computer:

I wish the digital and analog were on the same page so I could compare
them more easily. None of the digital headsets seem to be very
popular, the only one with four stars is $145.95. I don't know, I
guess I'll skip the digital variety and go with the good 'ole analog.
Weight, volume, one-ear only, noise, over the head & behind the neck
are some of the choices. I like the idea of behind the neck (I also
like the idea of one-ear). I think I'll go with the Plantronics .Audio
70 PC Headset for its price, rating, and neck design.

Your recommendation confirmed this decision.

>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>

Well, if I could pick only one thing to change, it would be to get rid
of the stars! They are impossible to ignore and most don't have very
good ratings. If you want to keep them, perhaps provide a key to what
they mean - maybe three stars aren't as bad as I think.

I think your recommendation pages are the best for helping someone out
- I wish I had discovered them sooner. Could they somehow be more
prominent?

I hope I've been able to provide you with some food for thought. If
you have any questions, please let me know.

Thank you,
hummer

Excellent hummer! Thanks for coming back and giving our site another
shot. Your "headsets user" oriented review was perfect, just what we
were looking for! Your recommendations for changing the wording or
the cordless/wireless pages will get serious attention.

Thanks again,
headsetswebmaster
