My Internet Explorer has become increasingly unstable in the past few
weeks. McAffee definition files are automatically downloaded to my
PC, so I think I'm protected in the virus department. I downloaded
the service pak for IE, but don't have an improvement in stability.
By instability I mean it's opening a page with a lot of small photos
(NYT, e.g.) and crashes when the text at the bottom of IE says there
are still a few items opening. I downloaded Avant, and am having the
same trouble there. Any suggestions on what I should check next to
solve this problem?

Try to download and run Adaware from Lavasoft:
http://www.lavasoftusa.com/software/adaware/

Download it from here:
http://majorgeeks.com/download.php?det=506

Please let me know if that fix your problem in order to post this
request in the answer box. If not let me know too, so I will continue
researching for a solution.

Regards.

I have the same problem. I tried searching for spyware with adaware
and S&D, they both found nothing.

What worked however was reinstalling IE. I have had no problems since.

Good Luck,

John

It turns out that somehow NetRaider snuck onto my system. Getting rid
of that solved the problem. Thanks for both of your help.
