I heard a radio program this week on a Chicago station that I think was Chicago Public Radio. They reported on a study that ranked towns in Illinois by the percent of the population that had a college degree versus the average income. Braidwood was lowest on the list with 9% with degrees and 56,000 income. They then listed several other towns. I need to verify the numbers and have some of the data on other towns. |

Dear deedee123, The most reliable data currently available is the 2000 Illinois Federal Census data, since the 2002 data has not been made available yet. The dataset for Braidwood, Illinois says: - College degrees: Bachelor's, graduate or professional degree: 9.1% - Median household income: $54,375 - Mean household earnings: $58,666 So these data correspond with the figures for Braidwood you heard on the radio. You can get the detailed 2000 Census data for every Illnois town on the website of the Illinois Department of Commerce and Economic Opportunity (PDF files, Adobe Reader required): http://www.illinoisbiz.biz/2000census/Cities.html Sources: U.S. Census Bureau: Census State Data Centers - Illinois http://www.census.gov/sdc/www/ilsdc.html Illinois Department of Commerce and Economic Opportunity: Census 2000 Data for Illinois http://www.illinoisbiz.biz/2000census/ Hope this is what you were looking for!
