Hello Martin, I've put together a fairly comprehensive list of search engines (in alphabetical order). Search has become a big business these days and it seems everyone wants a piece of the pie. These are some of the major players and a few new kids on the block. I've probably missed a few out there and if I've omitted a super secret engine, I hope a colleague or commenter will pop in their favorite. ===================== GENERAL SEARCH ===================== About http://www.about.com AlltheWeb http://www.alltheweb.com AltaVista http://www.altavista.com Ask Jeeves http://www.ask.com Dipsie (coming soon) http://www.dipsie.com Eurekster (beta) http://www.eurekster.com Excite http://www.excite.com Gigablast http://www.gigablast.com Google ://www.google.com Highway 61 http://www.highway61.com Looksmart http://looksmart.com Lycos http://www.lycos.com Meceoo (beta) http://www.meceoo.com MSN http://www.msn.com Walhello http://www.walhello.com Wisenut http://www.wisenut.com Yahoo! http://www.yahoo.com ===================================================== META/DEEP/VISUAL/DIRECTORY/SPECIALTY SEARCH ENGINES ===================================================== Brainespot http://www.brainespot.com Copernic (download) http://www.copernic.com Davator http://www.datavor.com Dogpile http://www.dogpile.com Ez2find http://ez2find.com Fazzle http://www.fazzle.com Gimenei http://gimenei.com Gimpsy http://www.gimpsy.com Globito http://www.globito.com Hot Bot http://www.hotbot.com Ithaki http://www.ithaki.net Ixquick http://www.ixquick.com Kartoo http://www.kartoo.com Killer Info http://www.killerinfo.com Mamma http://www.mamma.com Metacrawler http://www.metacrawler.com MetaEureka http://www.metaeureka.com Northern Light http://www.northernlight.com Pandia http://www.pandia.com Planet Search http://www.planetsearch.com ProFusion http://www.profusion.com Queryster http://www.queryster.com Search http://www.search.com Search Engine Colossus http://www.searchenginecolossus.com SearchisFun http://www.searchisfun.com SuperCrawler http://www.supercrawler.com Surfwax http://www.surfwax.com Teoma http://www.teoma.com Turbo 10 http://turbo10.com Veoda http://www.veoda.com Vivisimo http://vivisimo.com Websearcher http://www.webcrawler.com Zapmeta http://www.zapmeta.com References Used: Favorites folder Search Engine Guide http://www.searchengineguide.com/searchengines.html OZ Crawler (enter 'search engines) http://www.ozlist.com/se5.htm Leiden University http://www.leidenuniv.nl/ub/biv/specials.htm Search Engine Watch http://searchenginewatch.com/links/article.php/2156241 http://searchenginewatch.com/links/index.php It was a pleasure putting this list together for you if I can be of further assistance, please let me know.
