I know I saw--somewhere--that someone had done a survey that showed
that 100% of the people surveyed had committed a crime that someone
else was in prison for. I can't find it.

This sounds highly unlikely.

Oh? Ever participated in an office pool for the NCAA or other sports
event? People are in jail for gambling...

Could it possibly be that everyone has committed a crime that someone
else was punished for, referring to Jesus?

This may be of interest:

"Self-report studies include discussions with incarcerated offenders
and active offenders. In general, these studies suggest that virtually
everyone has committed crimes during the course of their lives,
including crimes for which they could have been incarcerated for at
least one year in prison."

http://www.policestudies.eku.edu/POTTER/Lesson4.htm

"In contrast to our stereotypical notions of who is a criminal,
studies using self-report data reveal a different portrait of who
commits crime. Using confidential interview and questionnaire
techniques, researchers have asked people if they have ever committed
a crime. The results suggest that almost everyone has committed a
crime at some point."

Yes, ac67, that's the sort of thing I was looking for--but with a bit
more punch, if you know what I mean. I was hoping for statistics I
should shove in people's faces :) . Thanks.

Hmm. That's not quite how I read the question. It seemed like
zarquon-ga was stating that I (and everyone else) committed a crime
and somebody else took the fall and is in jail. OK, I'll admit I'm a
criminal, but always victimless crimes. (Let's just say what I did
during my trip to Florida is not a crime in my home state of NY.)

Some years ago, the Home Office (UK) studied criminality over several
years, following the claim from a sociologist that (after a certain
time) over 50% of people in the UK would have a criminal record.

I believe that this was called 'The Janus Project', or some such.

The projection was actually less than the actual, even though the UK
had lifted the age where juniors could be prosecuted for criminal
offences (from 8 to 10 years, I think) and First Time Offenders were
typically cautioned rather than prosecuted.

Now, if you consider that only 30% of crime actually gets reported and
that only 10% of reported crime ever gets prosecuted ...

Well ... I have had to come to the conclusion that I am the only
law-abiding person left in the UK.

But, I must confess, that I have been know to break the speed limit
... Well, almost every day - even when I leave the car at home.

I am a very fast walker.

Found it! I didn't see it on the Internet after all; it was in a
pamphlet. Nonetheless, that pamphlet is available on the Net:
<http://isil.org/resources/lit/hidden-war-priv.html>. I wonder why
Google could not find it.

Interesting pamphlet...if all that it says is true, I would think the
riskiest thing you could do would be to put up a website about it and
publish pamphlets - a RED FLAG for sure!
