"The country has 6.7 cubic miles of water, but 48% of the city
population and 25% of rural dwellers do not have safe water. According
to the World Health Organization, 80% of all disease inBurkina Fasois
caused by unsafe water."
The above is a quote from a one paragraph statement on the evironment
that was printed from the internet, but unfortunately there was no
webpage address included on the printout. I would like to find the
webpage this was printed from and/or similiar statistics on
environmental water issues in Burkina Faso.

Dear robert999-ga,

I cannot find the document to which you referred. I have detailed
below various sources which should provide the information you
require.

In your question you quoted "According to the World Health
Organization, 80% of all disease in Burkina Faso is caused by unsafe
water."

I cannot find this quote, but it may be taken from a figure which
appears in many sources:
"The World Health Organization (WHO) estimates that 80% of all
sickness in the world is attributable to unsafe water and sanitation"
quoted from "Battling Waterborne Ills in a Sea of 950 Million", The
Washington Post, February 17, 1997.

Or from this source,
"unsafe water is responsible for 80% of all diseases and 30% of deaths
in developing countries"

This pdf file is on Household Water Resources and Rural Productivity
in Sub-Saharan Africa: A Review of the Evidence. African Economic
Policy Discussion Paper Number 69 May 2001

It contains two tables. The first titled "Access to safe water and
sanitation in sub-Saharan Africa"
It contains the following data: Burkina Faso, date 1988, population
1,879,443, urban access to water 26%, rural access 50%. Population
with sanitation in 1988 5%.

Table 2 details changes in rural population without safe water since the mid-1980s

There is also some very detailed information for the Sub-Saharan
region as a whole which you may find useful.
