Dear axel_wg-ga:

Netscape has a habit of taking the liberty to make an .html file out
of your bookmarks so when all else fails you can often retrieve your
bookmarks through your browser:

Copy the following string and paste it into the URL field on your
browser and hit ENTER:

C:\Program Files\Netscape\Communicator\Program\Defaults\bookmark.htm

Do you see an html file there called ?Bookmarks? with actual bookmarks
in it? If so, that?s it!

If you didn?t see bookmarks in that file or didn?t see any file at all
modify this string appropriately so that the ?????? is replaced with
the location of your backup file and try pasting it in your browser?s
URL field:

C:\????\Netscape\Communicator\Program\Defaults\bookmark.htm

Do you see the ?bookmarks.html? file now? If so, that?s it!

Let me know if this worked for you.

Regards;

The path given by tutuzdad-ga is for Netscape Communicator 4.x. For
Netscape 7.1 it's different.

By supposing that your OS is windowsXP or 2000, your bookmark file is located at
C:\Documents and Settings\<user Xp or 2000>\Application
Data\Mozilla\Profiles\<profile name>\xxxxxxxx.slt\bookmarks.html

xxxxxxxx.slt is a folder with a string of 8 random numbers or letters.

You will find your file bookmarks.html here but your bookmarks will
probably be lost. If you find a backup of this file, you can import it
by the menu Bookmarks->Manage bookmarks->Tools->Import

Remember to make a backup of this file occasionnally, in the same menu
you have Tools->Export to do this.
