Your description sounds like David Serva:

"Indeed, few of his Spanish flamenco friends know that David Serva is
really David Jones, the son of retired U.C. Berkeley Political Science
Professor Victor Jones. His lineage is white Alabama not gypsy
Andaluz... David Jones had become David Serva, a prodigal Berkeley
native son who successfully assimilated himself seven thousand miles
away from home into the closed, clannish, and exotic world of gypsy
flamencos."

If this is the correct guitarist, I can tell you where you can
purchase a CD of his music.

It would be helpful if you could tell us all you know about this
person. You said nothing about Minnesota or Montana initially. Are
there any additional details that might help us?

How about Michael Hauser, of Minnesota?

"Sometimes referred to as the 'Father of Flamenco Guitar in
Minnesota', Michael Hauser is one of a handful of flamenco guitar
masters residing in the United States today. Mr. Hauser has traveled
to Spain where he began his lifelong love affair with the
instrinsically Spanish folk art... flamenco. The son of two well-known
artists, Michael Hauser has studied with a number of Spain's great
flamenco guitarists including Luis Maravilla, Niño Ricardo, Justo de
Badajoz, and Juan Maya 'Marote'. He has also studied classical guitar
with Andrés Segovia's classical guitar protege Jesus Silva. Michael
Hauser has performed in Europe and the Far East. He has completed
numerous college and community tours as a soloist, as part of the
Hauser Guitar Duo (with his brother Tony, an accomplished classical
guitarist), and as first guitarist with a number of Spanish dance
companies. He is one of the founders of the well-known flamenco dance
company, ZORONGO FLAMENCO (www.Zorongo.org), and served as musical
director and first guitarist for several years.

Mr. Hauser is also currently on the music faculty at Macalester
College and the University of St. Thomas, both in St. Paul,
Minnesota."
