AOL is my ISP. I have AOL Broadband. Is there a way to access the internet (using exlorer) without loading AOL? Can I set up Network Preferences or something in my PC or am I stuck with having to open AOL and then Minimize it to use explorer? I am running Windows XP pro. I hate the AOL interface but Like certain aspects of AOL. | |

Disturbeded... You, like many others, enjoy certain things about AOL, the interface not being one of them. Using Point-to-Point over Ethernet (PPPoE) you can connect to yourprovider and still utilize the parts of AOL you enjoy. Visit http://www.dslreports.com/forum/remark,6332885~mode=flat for a great explanation of how to do this. -THV Search Strategy: Connect to AOL via DSL AOL DSL PPPoE |

I haven't used AOL since probably 1.0 but I can't imagine it would be that difficult. Just a quick thought here but have you tried to create a direct desktop shortcut to IE? Yes, you would have to make AOL the default connection preference (My Computer/Control Panel/Network Connections) but again you should be able to sign on and be connected without launching their inane interface . . . hope this helps . . . |

Hello Again! Finalanswer, thanks for the comment, but that was the first thing I tried but due to haveing to sign on, I wasn't able to. Tar_Heel_V, That did it! Just what I needed. Now I am able to log onto the internet and not use the AOL interface! Thanks SOOOO much for that link! ~ DisturbedEd |
