Can?t get Acrobat Distiller to work on Windows 2000 server We have a Windows 2000 server, that we access mostly through Terminal Services. I can?t seem to get Adobe Acrobat to work on there. Even you are logged in as the Administrator, it doesn?t work. It doesn?t work in any program. If I open a Word XP, or even notepad, and hit print, and pick Acrobat Pro from the list of printers, it says: There was an error found when printing the document ?Microsoft Word ? Document 1? to My Documents\*.pdf. Do you want to retry or cancel the job? There is then a Retry button and a Cancel button. Retry does the same thing. We are up to date on Windows 2000 server service packs. I have tried installing the following vers of Acrobat Distiller Pro: 5.0 6.0 6.0.1 (with all the latest updates). Same problem, same error message. Tried changing various settings in the print dialog box properties, but no change. Help! Thanx in advnce |

Your problem is that you don't have the file "acrotray.exe" loaded in the startup configuration. You need to make sure that it is loaded by downloading msconfig.exe here: ftp://ftp.micro-solutions.com/software/backpack/utilities_misc/msconfig.exe and ensuring that acrotray.exe is loaded under startup. |

I found acrotray.exe in the distller folder. I made an alias into the startup folder of the all users profile. Then I manually ran it and tried to make a pda. same problem. I tried the msconfog, but it didn't list acrotray. help! |

As was mentioned previously, acrotray.exe is what Adobe points to. http://www.adobe.com/support/techdocs/2bc3a.htm However, if that doesn't work, they recommend uninstalling Acrobat, then reinstalling. This is the only document I found at Adobe adressing this problem, so I hope it points to the solution. Good luck. |
