Throwing of beverage bottles on to the sports field by an angry crowd: there was an incidence of this sometime in the late 1990s here in the U.S. It created news headlines. When was it and at which game? What triggered it? | |

Another ugly scene was in Cleveland in late 2001. In this case, the crowd was upset about a bad call reversal. From what I understand, this incident was the final straw that caused most stadiums to either ban bottles (both glass and plastic) or require the vendor to not let the customer have the cap. The cap banning logic is that without a cap, the bottle can't fly as straight and far when thrown. Here's the Brown story: http://www.sptimes.com/News/121701/Sports/Bottles_fly_in_Clevel.shtml http://espn.go.com/nfl/s/2001/1218/1297527.html |

1999 MLB Playoffs ALCS, Yankees Vs. Boston GAME 4 It was triggered by a bad call. Here's the link http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/baseball/mlb/1999/postseason/championship_series/alcs/news/1999/10/17/yankees_redsox_ap/ |
