Question ID: 31959
I'm looking for someone who will repair a large leather sofa's internal wood
frame in the Madison, Wisconsin area.

Two back support brace pieces and one piece on the bottom have become
detached. It does not seem that any of the pieces have broken, just that the
connections have failed. There may be other internal damage, but I'm not
sure. I believe the work will consist of opening up the sofa, reattaching the
disconnected pieces, and closing up the sofa.

The sofa is eight foot long, so taking the sofa to another place for repair
would be extremely difficult, so ideally the repair person makes housecalls.
I'm in Middleton, Wisconsin (near Madison, Wisconsin). If I'll need to move
the sofa somewhere and back for repairs, information on how to do so most
economically would be a nice bonus.

I've done some checking around, but I've discovered that many places won't
work on upholstered or leather furniture.

I need contact information for a business which can and will do this repair.
I don't require, but would appreciate, a very rough, ballpark idea of what
this sort of repair typically runs.

Mr/Ms ChaosDiscord,

Sounds like your Google name is an appropriate description of your
sofa! Anyway, thanks for the inquiry.

In my experience, most upholsterers also do furniture repair
(sometimes, though only if they're reupholstering a piece), and, by
the very nature of their work, are most experienced in chairs and
sofas. Hence, hit the Yellow Pages under "Upholsterers" to see what
you can find.

I had a look, and here's a few that seem to fit the bill: they're in
or near Madison, do repair work, and will pick up an deliver. I'm
afraid I can't give you any good guidance on prices though -- perhaps
some of the other Googlers can offer some advice as a comment.

Anyhow -- hope this helps out.

Thanks for the nice ranking, and I'm glad to hear your soda will be
picked up. You might want to ask them to take your sofa as well.

Cheers!

A nice array of options, including one in my home city. I've arranged
to have by soda picked up for repair Thursday. That's exactly what I
wanted.
