I have found a closely similar phrase, from The Star Spangled Banner,
translated into Irish Gaelic: "O'er the land of the free and the home
of the brave." Would this be sufficient?

Yes, the translation from the Star Spangled Banner would be great, thanks!

Hello docholliday77,

Here is the Irish Gaelic (Gaeilge) translation of The Star Spangled
Banner, on two versions of a web site that is devoted to promoting and
teaching the Irish language.

"An Bhratach Gheal-Réaltach - The Star Spangled Banner"
Daltaí na Gaeilge
http://www.daltai.com/padraig/USA.htm
http://www241.pair.com/daltai/padraig/USA.htm

The line "O'er the land of the free and the home of the brave" (which
occurs four times in the anthem) is translated as "Os cionn tír na
gcróga is talamh na saor!"

Thank You, Do you know by chance how to pronounce it phonetically?

I don't know how to pronounce these words. You would probably need a
good pronunciation guide to be able to figure it out on your own.
Even this fairly detailed beginners' guide is probably not sufficient
by itself:

"A Beginner's Guide to Irish Gaelic Pronunciation"
The Standing Stones
http://www.standingstones.com/gaelpron.html

My advice would be to post the pronunciation question to the
Discussion Boards of Daltaí na Gaeilge (
http://www.daltai.com/discus/index.html ).

Hi

You might take a look and Sabhal Mor Ostaig, the Scots Gaelic college

http://www.smo.uhi.ac.uk/

They are the sort of organisation that are likely to provide you with
translation and recording.

Albanaich :-)

As a native Irish gaelic speaker, I know how to pronounce those words!

A phonetic rendition of
"Os cionn tír na gcróga is talamh na saor!"
could be
Ose ky-un teer na grow-gah iss toll-uv na say-er
