Hi, 
I am looking for the following time-series data for both the UK and US markets:
1. Market partipation rates in the stock market over the last few years:
-the total number of private investors in the UK over the last 10 years or more.
-The same for active traders in the UK.
2.also the same data for the US market so that the data
sets can be compared.

a hypothetical example of what I am looking for

year: 199X
no. of investors/those who manage passively their own investments:
1,500,000 persons.
those actively involved in the stock market/investments: 60,000
(includes categories such as day traders etc, but excludes market
professionals working for city firms)

I will aslo happily accept data which is subdivded into more categories than this
