We are looking to buy the technology and equipment required to
manufacture fibre forms for concrete columns. One of the companies
that makes such fibre forms is SONOCO (see link below), but they do
not sell the technology, just the forms themselves.

Hello -

Are you looking to purchase the equipment needed to manufacturer the
actual paper stock in addition to the equipment to process it into
tubes, or just the equipment needed to process the (purchased) stock
into tubes? As you might imagine, the difference between the two
would be thousands if not millions of dollars.

Thanks,

Just to process the (purchased) stock into tubes, please. I'd love to
get a rough idea about how much the paper stock is, if possible.

Hello -

I've spoken with three companies that make "tube-making" or "winder"
lines -- all the equipment necessary to make Sonotube-type, paper
"cores" used with concrete tubes. The line generally consists of the
following equipment:

1. Backstand (paper feeder)
2. Gluer
3. Winder
4. Cut-off saw
5. Optional recutter for more precise cuts

These tubes come in a variety of diameters, and the equipment to make
them can produce one (or more) diameters in a given range. They vary
respectively in price.

Paper prices run about $480-$520/ton ($.24-$.26/lb), slit and
delivered. According to Mr. Emril at Paco Winders, the cost of the
adhesives is negligible.
