Hi vir0, According to NASA space flight contractor Dr. Eric Christian, the distance from the center of the earth varies from 6378 km to 6357km. From NASA's Cosmic and Heliospheric Learning Center website: "How Far to the Center of the Earth? How many miles is it to the center of the Earth? The Earth is not a perfect sphere, so the distance to the center of the Earth varies from 6378 km (3963 miles) at the equator to 6357 km (3950 miles) at the poles." http://helios.gsfc.nasa.gov/qa_earth.html#centerearth About Dr. Eric Christian http://imagine.gsfc.nasa.gov/docs/features/bios/christian/eric_c.html I hope this answers yor question.
