Hi leader For a possible hotel project in Berlin, that will dedicate itself to the rich political history of the city, I am looking for examples in other capitals. We want to attract this huge number of visitors, that come to visit parliaments, historical places and interest in the current political happening. That includes guests staying in the city because of their work for the goverment and related businesses. I need an overview of successful businesses, dedicated to the target audience of these people, going further than offering tours. Like restaurants, cafes, stores or (privately run) places to inform or discuss. I do not expect to find other hotels, that try to attract this audience, but would love to find examples. No problem if you limit your search to capitals in English speaking countries. Best from Berlin Raus | |

Dear Thorsten, Living myself in Berlin, I could understand how you reached such an idea. The hotels I could think of that use a "theme", usually use a historical theme and less use expressive political themes, that might be bad for business. Hotels without a "theme", well, it is not clear how you'll manage to attract audience better than Adlon or Swissotel. As for people who come in order to work in Berlin's political institutions, what they might need and usually is offered in large capitals: office services (very important, incl. communication services); clothing services (suits, tailors, etc.); reference services (legal library, access to Internet); conference/meeting rooms. As for cafes, restaurants and those kind of services, it seems to me that high profile restaurants, where politicians usually meet (Vau?), are ones that gain their name and then get the political visitors and vice versa. |
