diverdon-ga: Teledyne Vehicle Systems was acquired by General Dynamics (the main contractor for the Abrahms Main Battle Tank and other vehicles) in March, 1996: http://www.globalsecurity.org/military/industry/general_dynamics.htm (see Acquisitions section) Now part of General Dynamics Land Systems (http://www.gdls.com), the Propulsion Systems group manufactures and services the engines for the M1 Abrahms line of armored vehicles. Their website is http://www.defensepropulsion.com . The most recent Army contract announcement involving the M1 Abrahms was in May, 2003: http://www.defenselink.mil/news/May2003/c05152003_ct330-03.html In this announcement, the General Dynamics Land Systems contract was revised to include additional supply and maintenance work for the upgrade of several M1A2 tanks. General Dynamics provides depot services to supplement the unit-level maintenance work performed by Army personnel themselves. More on this can be seen in this 2002 presentation: http://www.dtic.mil/ndia/2002logistics/edmunds.pdf Hope this helps, aht-ga Google Answers Researcher |
