Looking for 17inch CRT with narrow back

I?m looking for a good 17inch CRT monitor whose back section is as
small or as narrow (thin) as possible). I?m sure there is 1 or 2 that
are especially thin. I know they will never be as thin as LCDs, but I
used to have a CRT (KDS) whose back section was narrow, almost shaped
like a tail wing on a 747.

It would be super if it was also available in Black, but not a 100%
requirement. I would hope it would still be much much cheaper then a
LCR.

Help!

thanx in advnce

sherpaj:

When you say narrow, do you mean narrow in width (ie it tapers from
front to back), or short (as in it is not a very deep monitor)?

Ether one will do. If it tapers, it needs to start tappering fast.

Sorry, I guess I'm just not picturing the monitor the same way you are.

For example, Philips claims that their SOHO line of monitors are the
"World's Shortest":

which are 16.5" deep.

That said, it looks like Samsung's basic Flat CRT 17-inch model is
even shorter, at 15.7 inches:

I'm still unclear which dimension matters more to you, though; the
depth, or the height of the back section? If it's the height of the
back section, then the Philips units are probably the better solution,
since the back is highly tapered:

If you can advise which dimension is the most important to you, then
perhaps I can come up with an Answer for you.

Thanks,
