Is it true that there is a Goonies 2 being made?

Dear gareth981-ga,
At the moment, there are no reports that filming has commenced, nor
indeed, whether the studios have given the go-ahead. The latest
information is from November/December 2003 when it was reported that
Richard Donner, the director of the original film, was trying to
persuade Warner Bros, to give him the go-ahead for a sequel. Since
then, there has been no news. Perhaps they said no.

"We're trying desperately," Donner said. "We're just trying to get
Warner Bros., who owns it, to say yes."

studios and on his web site he states,
"Corey would like to thank everyone who participated in the Goonies 2
Petition -The turn-out was great and Corey will be bringing the

Note that the "Goonies 2" referenced by jeff318-ga was not a movie,
but a video game. That's what the (VG) after the title means.
