Dear birkett7-ga,

It would appear that it takes a few years before nationwide statistics
specifically on school related incidents are collected and examined.
The FBI?s Uniform Crime Reporting (UCR) Program does not specifically
identify school related crime. As a result, although the first report
I will refer you to is dated 2003, the latest data is from 2001. To
quote from the US Deprtment of Justice, this report "...provides the
most current detailed statistical information to inform the Nation on
the nature of crime in schools."

National Center for Education Statistics.
Report titled Indicators of School Crime and Safety: 2003
"an array of sources--the National Crime Victimization Survey
(1992-2001), the School Crime Supplement to the National Crime
Victimization Survey (1995, 1999 and 2001), the Youth Risk Behavior
Survey (1993, 1995, 1997, 1999 and 2001), the School Survey on Crime
and Safety (2000) and the School and Staffing Survey (1993-94 and
1999-2000)."

The National School Safety and Security Services is a private company
which specialises in solving security issues for schools. It maintains
a database of school violence which they collate from print and
electronic news sources. It covers 1999 - 2004
