This sound is being made by blowing into a miniature glass jug. The sound is something like a South American flute. I need to know what musical note it is producing. If you have any other data that would be helpful to know too. Press the silver button on this page to hear the sound: http://73008.com/mp3ss12.htm |

Hi boleynma~ It is an interesting, ?old world? sound. If you had not told me it was produced with a jug, I would have thought it some sort of primitive flute, etc. The note is B flat above middle C. After the first take, the sound starts at B flat, and slides down to a G. Using a metronome count of 100, the first note is a half note; the second, a dotted full; the third, a whole note; the fourth, a dotted full. Thank-you! The glass jug was given to my great-grandmother on the occasion of my grandmother's birth by a woman who was one of the "help" (a former slave or daughter of a former slave) living on their farm in Texas in 1888. I just purchased a CD of primitive flute music and happened to think that the jug might produce a sound -- and voila, it did. It was the first time for the sound to be produced from the jug in 100 years. Thanks for your speedy help. |
