?Based on the novel by Colm Toibin, The Blackwater Lightship tells the
compelling story of reconciliation between three generations of women.
Angela Lansbury plays Granny; Dianne Wiest is her daughter, Lily; Gina
McKee (Divine Secrets of the Ya-Ya Sisterhood, Notting Hill) plays
Helen, Lily?s daughter. The relationship between the three women has
been marked by decades of misunderstandings; they?ve barely spoken in
10 years.
They are reunited at Granny?s home in the seaside village of
Blackwater when Lily?s son (and Helen?s brother) Declan, who has AIDS,
leaves the hospital to spend time at a place he remembers fondly from
his childhood. Declan is played by Keith McErlean; the two friends who
join him on his homeward journey are played by Sam Robards (Artificial
Intelligence) and Brian F. O?Byrne (Bandits).?
The movie is not yet available for purchase on DVD, however it appears
that it will available for purchase soon at the Hallmark website and
at Hallmark stores.
