Question ID: 321336
I have a pitcher made by Girmscheid standing 11" tall. On the front,
there is an emblem with the words-STADT across top and BADHONNINGEN
across bottom. I cannot find it anywhere. I know stadt means town &
bad means bath, Honnengen is a town in Germany. My question is do you
know what its value is & perhaps what hotel it's from & age?

Dear mayor1,

Does your pitcher resemble those displayed on the Girmscheid website?

Does the emblem on your pitcher resemble this coat-of-arms?

My pitcher is all brown including the emblem which is raised and has a
design around it. The emblem you showed my is the one on my pitcher.
Thanks...Linda

Dear Linda,

I do not post this as an answer because I can't prove it; I think that
your pitcher did not belong to a hotel or restaurant. Rather, it is a
gift the municipality of Bad Hönningen gives to persons they would
like to officially honor without spending too much money. "Stadt Bad
Hönningen" is the full official name of the town, and the emblem is
the municipality's coat-of-arms.
I can't imagine that it is very valuable; such and similar items are
given away by German towns on a grand scale because they are
relatively inexpensive (I am German myself and I find this avarice,
combined with a lack of good taste, really sad).
