What brand is the pen? What is the selling situation? Retail, online, etc? But in general, selling pens is easy if you can prove that refills are easy to find and that carrying a branded pen (parker, waterman, cross, mont blanc, etc) will provide some amount of prestige. It also helps if you have personal experience with the brand you're selling. I used this tactic to sell tons of pens in the office retail environment. |

Who is your target audiance? In order to sell something efficiently, it is essential to know something about the type of people you are selling your pen to! For instance, if you are selling your pen to students in a school, you will market your pen as being funky, fun and unusual. If you are selling your pen to businesses then your pen must be sold as being reliable, cost effective with price reduction for bulk ordering ect. |

I am guessing that this is the age-old interview trick of getting the candidate to sell them their pen in an interview, if so this one is easy. First, needs ? ascertain the needs of the client (or interviewer) Second, sell the benefits of your pen. Third, Identify any objections. Fourth, Cover any objections. Fifth, close. Stick to that and you wont go far wrong. James Keeley |

Ask the same question to your customer and repeat his answer to him/her :) He/She would/should buy the ballpoint pen then. |

The age-old interviewers trick; The interviewer hands the candidate his pen and says, "Sell this pen to me." The best response is to simply state that this is a very nice pen and that you would like to give it some thought and then pocket the pen. The answer lies in controlling the supply and satisfying the demand. The interviewer will eventually need his pen. He may ask about the pen, or even ask for it outright. You have created limited supply by taking the pen off the market. The very process of the interview requires that the interviewer ask questions and make notes. Even if he has an abundance of pens, he probably wouldn't lt you walk out the interview without first making a demand for the pen. At which point you offer to sell it ack to him for a nominal price, which may not be limited to currency, but rather, the position. |
