It's my understanding that as of January 1, 2004, all gasoline in the
US is supposed to be low-sulfur gasoline, due to implementation on new
EPA rules.

Are you looking for something other than regular low-sulfur blends?

Thank you. I didn't know January 1, 2004 was the start date. I
wondered if the implementation was delayed. I read on BP website that
Amoco LS Ultimate is low sulfur which is 93 octane and expensive.
I've been looking for 87 octane low sulfur but haven't seen it
advertised or promoted.

January 2004 is the *start* date for lowering sulfur levels in
gasoline, as part of a complex program EPA calls "Tier 2". Sulfur
values will continue to be made even lower over the next several
years.

You can read a detailed fact sheet (good luck figuring it out,
though!) at EPA's website:

http://www.epa.gov/otaq/regs/ld-hwy/tier-2/420f04002.pdf

or a less detailed (but not necessarily less confusing) press release here:

http://yosemite.epa.gov/opa/admpress.nsf/b1ab9f485b098972852562e7004dc686/85d60bed6693e58f85256e270050648c?OpenDocument

If you let me know in a bit more detail what sort of information you
need, I'll see if I can track it down and post it as an answer to your
question.

Glad to know you're aware of this, by the way...it should be a good
boost to cleaner air in the U.S.

The essential question I have is which gasoline retailers are now or
are planning to sell low sulfur gasoline sooner than Tier 2 requires.
I've read that Holiday gasoline in Minnesota is selling low sulfur gas
at sulfur levels of 20ppm, which is well below Tier 2 requirements.

Thank you for your research.
