The most common problem with many so called Buddhist teachers in the West is that either they are not real teachers, i.e they aren't authorized to do what they're doing because they don't have a proper dharma transmion, or that what they teach is in clear contradisction to Budha's teaching. I'm reffering here to all Buddhist tradions in the West. Some of the most famous American Vipasana teachers do NOT have a dharma transmition. I would suggest carefull considaration od these matters. As far as Jack Kornfield is concerned I have no clue. About 10 years ago I went to a reatret in a Ven. Goenka center somwhere in MA. It was a good reatret and have not heard of any bad things or scandal ralated to Ven Goenka. However, everyone must judge for themselves. If you are truly interested in parcticing vipasana as a buddhist path I suggets carefull reasearch and travelling to the original Buddist countries. I wish you all the best, |
