I need to know how long does it take on average for internet services
which have a free version and a fee premium version to convert a free
user to a paying user (of course, just for those users who eventually
become paying users). I'm mostly interested in webmail services
(hotmail, yahoo mail or any other smaller provider), but data about
other similar services would do. I just need data about one webmail
service, or at least a couple of relevant examples about some other
internet services if you can't find anything about webmail.
For example, I know that around 1.6% of yahoo's email users are paying
for the premium subscription. What I'd like to know is the average
time a customer uses the free service before deciding to pay for the
enhanced service.

5. Expected free program diffusion on the internet with a low
marketing investment [$15] 10
I would like to know which numbers I could expect for a new
interesting freeware program released on the internet without an
investment in advertising. Suppose I have a program for a broad
audience of not technical people, just regular internet users; I want
to give it away for free, so I just submit my website to search
engines and shareware collections; then I just wait and see how many
people download it.

The following would represent a sufficient answer: some historical
data (not too old) about any free (or shareware) program that became
widespread (at least 50.000 users in 6 months) without a significant
investment in marketing, with the monthly growth of user number for
the first year.
I already have the data for Incredimail, so that wouldn't count.

Thank you politicalguru for your comment: in fact, I mistakenly
published two questions in the same post. This is due to a copy&paste
error.

*** Please ignore anything after the line starting with "5. Expected
free program" in the main question. ***
(that is another question, that I published separately in google answers)

The correct question is the first one, and I will pay the full list
price to whoever answers it.
Here is the full question, with the error removed:

Dear Ale,

It seems to me as if you have asked two questions on the same post. I
recommend that you'll post them seperately, so if a Researcher finds
the answer to one of the questions, they'll be able give it to you.
