Question ID: 322614
I remember some years ago coming across a book that was a compiled
directory of author's agents. There were just a few hundred of theses
agents and almost all of them were located in New York.

Can anyone help me identify the name, author/publisher of this book?

Hi cesces!

I located a directory of literary agents.

Book description:
Here's all the names, addresses and guidelines you need, including
contact information for over 500 literary agencies, 120 conferences
and 30 freelance publicists. The book's easy-to-reference icons and
indexes help you to quickly, easily and correctly locate the agent
best suited to represent your work.
Paperback: 393 pages
Published in November 2002

I also found another book written by a leading New York literary agent.

Book Description:
This latest annual edition of the classic writer's directory provides
everything working writers need to find the most receptive publishers,
editors, and agents for their work. Each entry presents an overview of
the publisher, including its history and current lines, followed by
the names of specific editors, their areas of interest, and complete
contact information. It also features listings for over 150 top
literary agencies, along with their agents, what they represent, and
how to contact them.
Paperback: 934 pages
Published in September 2003 (14th edition)

Could one of the above books be the one you have in mind?

Thanks,
Bobbie7

Yes,

1. That is what I was looking for. What is the next step? I am a
novice at using this service.

2. Can you answer my other related question titled "Names of Author's
Agents for Tom Peters, Ken Blanchard and Jim Collins"

I am looking for the names (and contact information) for the authors
agents that have in the past represented Tom Peters, Ken Blanchard
(The One Minute Manager) and Jim Collins (From Good to Great).

I have written a compilation of pithy business with Mike Smock the
founder of Vsente. See:
http://Gurured.com

Heath Row of Fast Company described the Guru Red Rules as a
"thought-provoking read... full of energy, insight, and advice."

We have been referred to a business book publisher, but I would like
to retain a professional agent and do it right, with some professional
advice and direction.
