I read a book as a pre-teen that was about a mother and her daughters
who lived in a beach house. No father was around. The chapters were
told from differing points of view.

There was a white horse in the story and one of the daughters was
making a very detailed little doll house.

Anyone recognize this one?

In approximately what year did you read this book?

I know that you mention that it was when you were a pre-teen, but we
don't know your age. ;-)

Also, do you remember any other details of the plot? Did the mother
and daughters live at the beach house year-round or was it a vacation
home?

What role did the horse play in the story? Do remember any details
about the dollhouse?

Anything else that you could remember might help.

I was born in 1958, so it was probably in about 1970.

Other things I remember: There was a drawings of a white running
horse on the beach on the cover. The horse was only involved with one
of the daughters -- it ran on the beach in a kind of symbolic way.
Maybe she rode it? Maybe she just saw it running on the beach? I'm
afraid to give too many details because I' not sure I'm remembering
right.

The dollhouse had little live plants -- I think that she trimmed them
down to dollhouse size. I also think that she made mosaics to go in
the house. There was a lot of detail about how she made all the
furniture and fixtures for the little house.
