I'm looking for the birth and death year of Louise Straus. She was the
wife of the famous mathematician Ernst Gabor Straus. He worked closely
with Paul Erdos, an even more famous mathematician.

I believe Erdos is actually Erdosch (I'm currently reading Sylvia
Nasar's biography of John Forbes Nash Jnr)

but then web evidence suggests otherwise... hmmm...

He was Hungarian by birth so the spelling of the name uses the
Hungarian alphabet. The Hungarian s would sound like sch in German.

I *may* have a possible lead on Louise Straus, however, it'll require
me to get to the library to check out some print sources and your
question is going to expire before I can do that.

I'm not at all sure I have the right person though so I hesitate to
have you repost the question. So for you or for another researcher to
pursue--Ernst was born in 1922. Is it possible his wife's full name
was Ellen Louise Straus? I've found some stuff on an Ellen Louise
Straus with a birth year of 1925.
