Hello web_bod and thanks for your challenging question. I think "Sin-Free Carmelite Toffee" is your best bet (and a tip-of-the-hat to msm-ga for suggesting 'Sin-Free') I hope you'll agree with my choice. If you want to do further brainstorming on your own, a company called Naming.net lists 10 criteria that you should consider when naming a product: 1 Who are my consumers? 2 What am I naming? 3 What type of a name do I want? 4 How long should the name be? 5 Do the sounds in the name have the right appeal? 6 What associations should the name evoke? 7 What are the foreign language implications of the name? 8 How should I test the name? 9 How will the name appear in directories? 10 Can I trademark the name? Ten crucial questions when naming your business, product, or Web site http://www.naming.net/questions.html Why Sin-Free Carmelite Toffee? People will understand that 'sin-free' means fat-free, and 'Carmelite' does double duty: it's a play on the word 'caramel' and it's a well-known order of Spanish nuns: Carmelites http://mb-soft.com/believe/txh/carmelit.htm I also included 'toffee' in the name because that's directly descriptive of the product. Caramel and toffee are similar, but not precisely the same: "Caramel is a coloring and flavoring made from sugar that has been slowly cooked until it becomes a thick, brown syrup.... Toffee is a loose term for candy that is made from brown sugar or molasses and butterit can be soft and chewy or hard and brittle." EatEthnic.com http://www.eatethnic.com/questionsanswers.htm Search terms used: spanish product naming spanish nun carmelite caramel toffee definition In this answer I've offered you a product name (I think it's a really great one!) and also some insight into how product names are chosen. Hopefully you'll find my answer satisfactory. If not, let me know via 'request for clarification' if there's anything more I can do to help. Good luck with your new product! richard-ga |

I have two - This first one is a 'lite' spelling of the word toffee - " Taufi' " This second one has a dual purpose. The word 'Lo' means 'low' to 95% of Americans...and in Spanish it means "the"...so it works both ways - " Lo Toffee " |

Suggested marketing slogan: Go on! Confess, you love toffee but don´t want to indulge in a deadly sin. Well now you can indulge yourself and not have to go to confession afterwards with our new heavenly light toffee Miraculously created by Spanish Nuns (without a friar in sight) heavenly light toffee could just be the salvation to your sweet tooth temptations. This is the ´habit´ that you don´t need to keep under your.......well.......habit! How much sugar does it contain? Nun How many calories does it contain? Less calories than the chances of a cat in hell surviving. THX1138 :) |

Are you serious? If so, nearly all successful products these days do extensive marketing research testing on their names (and packaging). Sure, you can wing it, but it might be worth spending the money now to see if there is a market for the product and how different names would alter prospective customers' likelyhood of purchasing it. There are many firms out there that can do this for you but I like Cheskin Research in California. Very long history in consumer products (they also do media and computer stuff these days), and they have an international reach. www.cheskin.com |

I like richard-ga's suggestion but I'd change "sin" to "guilt-free" to capture that true Catholic flavor. ;-) alternate selection: Nun But The Best El Toffee Dulce. Ole, V |
