I am a US citizen, residing in the US. I am contemplating marrying a Canadian citizen, currently living in Canada. Although we would both live in Washington State, she would continue to work in Canada. What would the tax implications, both Canadian and US, be? |

I am a CPA and am brand new to the site and can answer your tax question however, shouldn't there be a "Answer" button like the "Comment button? Can somebody post a question on how to answer a question on this thing? |

The general quick answer is you have a some choices on how to handle it. One is that she continues to pay Canadian income taxes and assuming you'll file a joint return, you'll claim Foreign income tax credit for her portion of US taxes. I'll provide more details and a better answer when I figure out how to answer. |

Only official google answer researchers can "answer" a question and receive the fee. The general public is only able to add comments (where you could post the answer, but not receive any compensation.) GA is not currently accepting more researchers. |
