I ake it you are talking about in the google toolbar. If you click
options and then on the Options tab (should be default) Unchecking
Drop-down search history will hide previous searches and to delete the
last one, just clear it out (Delete it)

I'll assume you are talking about the regular google search page and
that you have auto complete turned on.

To Clear ALL forms including google previous search:
If using IE goto Tools > Options > Content > Auto Complete (button) >
Clear Forms (button)

Or (the method I use)

Click on the google bar and then highlight the first search item WITH YOUR MOUSE.
Let go of the mouse so that the top search is still highlighted.
Press and hold the DELETE key until all of your prior searches are deleted.

Hope that helps.

REMEMBER: If you go through the 'tools, options, clear history'
method, you'll lose ALL of your history for everything.

The best way to just delete the google history is as follows:
Make sure nothing is in the search field, then double click on it...
you should see the history appear as a drop down box.
Now hover the mouse over an entry (don't click), it should be highlighted.
All you have to do now is press the "DEL" or "DELETE" key on your
keyboard. Hold it down to delete heaps of entries.
