buy.

doug1000-ga:

Can you clarify the material and applications of these latches?
Searching through several authoritative parts databases for multiple
industries does not produce a match for a Cam-loc brand of draw
latches. If you can describe the context behind why you are asking for
this specific brand, it will help me greatly in finding the right
manufacturer for you.

Thanks,

A Camloc adjustable draw latch is used to latch together fiberglass or
carbon fiber body panels on a sports prototype race car. They are
approx. 1 inch wide by 3 inches long of cad. plated steel. there are
other brands of the same type of latch that are available but not of
the same quality. I have searched for the name Camloc as stamped on
some latches that I have had for years [not knowing where I got them]
with out any luck. They must be manufactured by a company of a
different name. Camloc 51L is the only thing on the latch, I assume
the 51L is a latch style indicator. If I can locate the manufacturer
and search a product line, hopefully I'll be able to buy the exact
latch needed, and possibly repair parts as we go through a lot of
them.

I have identified the manufacturer of the part in question; the
problem is that their catalog containing the Camloc 51L series latches
is currently not available online (I found the PDF file, but it is
corrupt). In order to allow you to search in parallel, here is what I
have found so far. The manufacturer is the Camloc/Ram division of
Fairchild Fasteners, which is now part of Alcoa. The Camloc 51L is
part of a very large and diverse series of aerospace and commercial
latches and fasteners made by this company. If you inquire with some
of your current suppliers, it is possible that one of them represents
Fairchild Fasteners, and can provide you with a catalog. The
Camloc-Ram latches can be found in section H of their current catalog;
the 51L series should be around page H-21. If the file were working,
you would be able to see it here:

http://www.alcoa.com/fairchild_fasteners/catalog/pdf/Camloc_RAM-H.pdf

Unfortunately, it seems to be corrupt right now.

If I come across additional information that will help you identify
and source specific parts from the Camloc 51L series, I will post as
an Answer.
