I purchased a Costa painting in Barcelona

Antoni Costa (not the Costa that was identified in one of the
responses) was part of the Social Realism movment in and around
Barcelona and Catalonia.

He painted in the 20's (my painting called Gitana - 1928)and after.

Cannot find information but have one book on him written in
Catalonian.

Hello, archadeck!

I have been spending some time on this and other "less-known painter"
questions on the site. As of today, I am awaiting responses from some
e-mails I've sent off to Spain.

In my experience, this sort of inquiry generally takes 1-2 weeks
minimum. If no-one has answered your question satisfactorily in the
interim, you may wish to re-post your question. There seems at least
a reasonable likelihood of retrieving the information you want, and of
course the posting fee is only $0.50

The trouble with questions like this, is that I get interested and
HAVE to know, for my own sake!

There's a Mexican social realist by the name of Olga Costa in this
same time period -- might she be the one you're looking for?

I found a little exhibition of pictures by Spanish painter Antoni
Costa Sampere. However, this all doesn't look like it belonged in the
period you mentioned.

I found only one referrence to him (in a catalogue from the 1920s) -
would you like to have it nevertheless (and/or contact the curator
that referred to this catalogue?)

Archadeck:

Now that your initial question has expired, you simply go through the
posting process again as you did the first time.

Google Answers charges only $0.50 per listing, so it costs you only
that much more than it would have originally.

I've just now (3PM, GMT-4, July 3) received a return e-mail from
Barcelona. Unfortunately it refers me to an offline contact, so I'm
going to see if there is an e-mail address I can use. If not, I'll
have to splurge on a long-distance fax.

Perhaps what I'll do is post another comment here when I've either got
the information, or established that I can't. That way you don't have
to re-post the question until you know you'll get an answer.
