I am seeking information on hammock stand dimensions. Specifically, I
need to know about the part of the stand that touches the ground. Please give
me a percentage breakdown of the dimensions. For example, "65% of
hammock stands have a base (whatever touches the ground) that is
48-inches by 48-inches. 15-20% of stands are 48-inches by
approximately 72-inches. ..." Please factor in all kinds of hammock
stands for this statistic: metal, wood, single pole, double pole.

Traditionally a USA hammock is tied between two trees, so hammock
stands have not been produced in large numbers but there are many
designs of varring safety.
Stands that simulate a pair of trees can have as little as 1%
horizontal (posts set in concrete or driven deep in the ground)
Movable stands need to be one peice, or prohibitively heavy or need
to fastened to something equivelent to trees, as the hammock rope
pulls with up to 500 pounds pressure. It is of course possible you are
thinking of a different kind of hammock than I. Neil
