I would like to get some statistics on the number of runners in the
USA. How many total runners?

Also, how many road races are there in the USA each month or year? How
many 5k's & 10k's, how many marathons are there?

Any other statistics with numbers of US runners / races / triathlons /
running events will be appreciated.

I need this today if possible.

Not to be a killjoy, but I would LOVE to know where/how they get their
stats. I lived in San Antonio, TX and I must say that stating that
24.1 % of the population are runners is patently absurd. I saw more
people running in San Francisco in one day than I did while living in
San Antonio for 2 years. This is one of the major reasons I live in
California now.

And HOW in the world should you be classified as a runner if you run
ONCE a year? Please.

The research was very good. I just question the validity of their
statistics. I would suggest you maybe research road race
participation, subscription rates for Running Times and Runner's
World, amount of running shoes sold by Asics, Brooks, Mizuno, New
Balance and Saucony (shoes that are traditionally sold to runners and
not for fashion).
