Hello,

I have an external 2.5 HDD enclosure that I want to use for cross
platform data sharing - windows 98 and above with MAC OS 9.0 and
above.

The problem is it doesn't work - no matter how I format the drive fat
or fat32 the macintosh is always corrupting the file system.

I can only transfer data from the PC to the MAC but not vice versa.
I know it's possible to achieve because flash drives can tranfer data
between MAC and PC.

So I want to know how it can be done.
I won't accept the following answers:

1. Using a different chipset - I won't be able to test it.
2. It can't be achieved - I want solutions.
3. Use a third party software to convert from mac to pc or vice versa.

I want a clean solution exactly like flash drives work.

The chipset I tested are: GL811 and CS8813.

One final note, I'm going to vacation from 4/4/2004 to 8/4/2004 so I
will be able to communicate before or after.

Thanks,
Barak

There is/was a software for the PC called mac drive that allowed the
PC to mount the Mac formated drives. This would allow you to keep
your resource forks in tact. As in the other comment listed, your
best option is to upgrade your OS to Mac OS X. This would take care
of your problem most definitely.

Thanks.

These two methods doesn't fit for me because:

1. Mac drive costs money.
2. I don't own the Mac machines.

I plan to sell it to a university that teaches graphics so they won't
do anything for it to work - I need to solve it.

Thanks,
Barak
