Question ID: 324070
When trying to start my HP Scanjet 3500c, I get an Internet Explorer
Script Error as follows:
Line: 261
Char: 4
Error: Object required
Code: 0
URL: file://C:\Program Files\Hewlett-Packard\Digital
        Imaging\bbfe\director\director.htm

Whether or not not I click Yes or No to "Continue running Scripts on
this page?" I get a blank dialogue box with no buttons to click and
use my scanner.
I have uninstalled an reinstalled the scanner software, and checked
for any IE updates. I am running IE Version
8.0.2800.1106.xpsp2.060422-1633

I have gone into Internet Options - Advanced Tab and checked Disable
Script Debugging and unchecked Display a notification about every
script error.

I need to be able to use my scanner again!

Dear gmcl,

Please try the following:

1. Open the Internet Options menu (Start -> Settings -> Control Panel
-> Internet Options).

2. Choose the "Advanced" tab

3. Search for the option "Disable Script Debugging", and check the box next to it!

4. Apply changes and restart your computer. Now try to scan something.

Does this work for you? Please let me know.

Regards,
Scriptor

Hello,

After searching the HP support documents, I found this page :

http://h20015.www2.hp.com/hub_search/document.jhtml;jsessionid=JN1DAX2BD120HQFIKSBEOSQ?reg=na&cc=us&docName=c00042731&lc=en

Since this is a troubleshooting problem, I can not post this as an
answer until I am certain your problem is fixed. Here is a synopsis of
the procedure :

"This issue is caused by corruption of the MDAC files on the computer
system. Installing the latest version of MDAC from Microsoft will fix
the problem..."

Please follow the instructions on the linked page above and let me
know if it fixes your problem.

Thanks,
SgtCory
