I am in desperate search for the name of a piece of classical music.
The song is played at the very start (intro) of "Stanley Kubrick: A
Life in Pictures". It is also played in Kubrick's "A Clockwork
Orange" when Alex kicks two of his fellow "droogs" into the water and
then slices one of their hands with a dagger. I'd much appreciate
your help!!

Hi Eric!

The music that is played at the start of the documentary Stanley
Kubrick: A Life in Pictures is ?The Thieving Magpie?, composed by
Gioachino Rossini.

Below are online references where you may verify that this is the correct answer.

?The documentary opens with a well-edited montage of clips and press
clippings timed to Rossini?s "Thieving Magpie" overture used by
Kubrick in "A Clockwork Orange," showing just mysterious he was to his
fans and the media that loved/hated him.?

Billyboy and his friends getting ready to perform a bit of the old
in-out-in-out on a weepy young devotchka at the derelict casino. Also
played during the Waterfront Fight scene.?

Here is another reference that my friend and fellow researcher
pinkfreud-ga has kindly pointed out to me:

"La Gazza Ladra" (The Thieving Magpie) "plays as Alex kicks his droogs
into the marina. He cuts Dim's hand with his knife."
