I use MSN Messenger on XP. I have been using it for about 300 years.
Before, I used to be able to see the nicknames my contacts chose for
themselves, instead of just their email address. Now I can only see
their email address. How can I fix this?

In order to try and fix this, I installed Messenger Plus but this doesnt fix it.

The information as to the nickname does exist - eg if I hover my mouse
over the email address displayed as the contact, it tells me the
nickname. But I want the nickname displayed as the default.

(obviously the fact that this is a before/after suggests I did
something to change it but I dont know what. I think it happened when
I installed one of the newer versions of MSN, but that is a guess)

Hi macaonghus,

"How come after I uninstalled Plus! my contacts are listed with their
email addresses and not with their nicknames?

You were probably using custom names for your contacts using Plus!
It's easy to switch them back to their own chosen nicknames by
selecting:

Contacts (dropdown menu) > Manage Contacts > View Contacts By > Display name."

Hope that works for you!
