Question ID: 3245
Where can I find colour images (screenshots, etc) illustrating the type of
content services which are available under 3G technology for mobile phones?
I'm particularly interested in things like games, video/photo downloads, and
other consumer entertainment applications. I'd like them to be images from
services which are currently available - and so far as I'm aware the only
markets which have launched 3G services to date are Korea (with CDMA1x) and
Japan (with FOMA - the 3G successor to iMode).

I think you are correct that there are no production, active 3G services
outside those you mention (and I wonder how "production" they are). Certainly
not in the U.S. or Europe. GPRS (considered "2.5G") is in production from last
year in some European countries (e.g., BT, Vodafone in U.K.) and in the U.S.,
AT&T and Voicestream are lighting up their GPRS networks.

Only AT&T, with it's "mLife" marketing campaign, has been identifying their
higher-speed data service as more than just that. They are branding it as
mMode, a U.S. mod to iMode. And yet, they are not making a big deal of games
or video.

Verizon is lighting it's Express Network, which is based on CDMA2000, and is
early 3G if you will, with a burst rate of 144kbps; still they will admit
sustained rates are in the 40-60kbps range (slightly better than GPRS). Sprint
will begin lighting it's CDMA2000 network this summer.

Dear lynetter,

You can check the following for some 3G graphics.

The best that I've found so far is (http://www.3g.co.uk) since it shows
new 3G phones plus pictures. It also provides reviews of upcoming phones with
graphic pictures. The specific page for this site is
(http://www.3g.co.uk/3GNewestPhones.htm)

The Samsung website also has some interesting graphics.

I can't find game grapics but on (http://www.nttdocomo.com) You can find
a short demo of their phone featuring an intro to Hudson Games.

       Hope you fond this helpful.

Hi!

Working at Bell Mobility a canadian company; you can find downloads
for rings/ screensaver on our web site (url below; www.bell.ca then
choose english + mobility.

We do have a working CDMA 1X network since a few months and will add
new features in the near future. Our network is actually one of the
best in NA and for digital data usage we reach 80-90 kpbs on a daily
basis and peak at 144 kpbs in lab.

Hope that helps you!

SprintPCS.com will be rolling out their nationwide 3G network with
many applications (Photos, games, shopping, etc) but have neglected to
provide any info beyond the basic "Its gonna be fast" on their
website.

http://www.sprintpcs.com/aboutsprintpcs/CDMA_3g/index.html

You may try searching http://groups.google.com/ for groups like:

alt.cellular
alt.cellular.sprintpcs
alt.cellular.tech
among others.

Seems like many telco workers hang out there.

Take a look at:

http://www.9dots.net/

for games technology for current (GSM/GPS/imode) and future (3G) mobiles.

*** Bias alert! I do business with these people! ***

But do take a look, the performance & hence game quality is outstanding!
