I am trying to determine the age of a piece of hand-sewn crewel
embroidery. It was stitched using WonderArt pattern number F531-49S.
It was found in my mother's attic, and I would place its age to be
1950s or earler. |

Howdy luvtopaddle-ga,
Is it possible it is either another pattern number, or perhaps a different
series other than WonderArt? Neither I, nor my contact can find that number
within the WonderArt patterns past or present. Thanks!

There is printed information the four corners of the pattern. That
information is as follows:
No. F531-49S
End Table Doily
"Winding Flowers"
Use Perlene Embroidery Thread
Made in U.S.A.
by WonderArt
Ask for Free WonderArt
Instruction Booklet
Also Mad in Chairbak, Armrests,
Table Center, Radio Scarf and
Doily Set
I read and reread the number, and it is unmistakably F531-49S.
Incidentally, I tried to scan the pattern info, but, even though it is
quite legible, it didn't scan well on my scanner.
Thanks for your help.

Thanks luvtopaddle-ga,
Back to some more email queries. In the meantime, "radio scarves"
haven't been around for a long time, at least since the 1940's, and
the Perlene company is equally extinct.

Howdy luvtopaddle-ga,
Unfortunately, probably what is the ultimate source for this information,
Caron International, the producers of the WonderArt patterns, have told
me that they have no information on this particular pattern. Sorry!
Perhaps another Researcher can find something out.
