Hello Sparky,

I found an article that begins like this:

----------

Courses in English a Big Part Of the U.S. Training Program
Oct 4, 1969

SAIGON, South Vietnam, Oct. 3 -- When Vietcong terrorists bombed an
English-language school run by the United States Army here recently, a
message from Washington arrived within the hour, offering whatever
help was needed to rebuild.

----------

Note that it's an Army school that was bombed, and the dateline is
October 1969. I don't know if the article includes a picture.

Do you think this is the incident you are asking about?

Hello again, Sparky.

I found it alfter all.

The incident you asked about occurred August 7, 1969 and was reported
the next day in the New York Times.

The article begins as follows:

----------

8 Killed and 62 Hurt in Saigon As Blasts Rip Military School
4 Americans Among Injured at South Vietnamese Facility -- Wide Area Damaged

New York Times
Aug 8, 1969
pg. 10

SAIGON, South Vietnam, Aug. 7 (Reuters) -- Four big explosions ripped
through a South Vietnamese Air Force school in Saigon today, killing
at least eight persons and injuring 62, military spokesman said here.

----------

I cannot reproduce the entire article here due to copyright concerns,
but you can view the article in its entirety at the New York Times
Archives website:

http://pqasb.pqarchiver.com/nytimes/advancedsearch.html

If you enter "Blasts Rip Military School" in the search box and press
"Search" the results will return a link to the above article. If you
then elect to view the entire article, there will be a charge (about
$3 for an individual article; less if you choose to buy several
articles). After entering the relevant information (credit card
number, etc) you will get an image of the full article as it appeared
in the newspaper in 1969.

----------

In brief, the details are:

--four bombs severely damaged the Air Force school, killing 8 people,
and injuring 62, including 4 Americans.

--the bombs also wrecked nearby buildings

--the blasts at the school occurred only a few hours after a North
Vietnamese attack at a nearby hospital

--the initial blast was a car bomb, and was followed by three smaller
blasts timed to go off as survivors fled the building.

--the attacks occurred in a week when 139 Americans, 276 South
Vietnamese, and 2,025 Vietcong died in the fighting.

--The remainder of the story dealt mainly with the attack on the hospital.

The article was accompanied by a map of Vietnam. There was no photograph.

I hope this gives you the information you need. However, if anything
here is not clear -- or if you need additional information -- please
let me know before rating this question. Just post a Request for
