Virtually all of the first and second rounds of the Stanley Cup
playoffs are carried as part of the NHL Center Ice package, available
from DirecTV (satellite dish). I'm not sure, but one might be able to
get NHL Center Ice on other dishes or cable, too. Assuming that you
are a Canadian temporarily stuck in Miami for the first round, not
living there so you could get a dish installed and buy the package
(highly recommended if you're a serious fan of hockey as a whole, not
just one team), I would think your best bet would be to call the local
sports bars. Looking at the playoff schedule, though, it seems like
the NHL has Lightning/Isles lined up at all the same times as
Leafs/Sens so you might have to bribe the bartender to get your choice
of games. Or get your local friends to buy the dish and the package!
I'm not affiliated with DirecTV in any way, but I have to tell you
that NHL Center Ice has been a sanity-saver for me this season.
Hockey Night in Canada every Saturday night (both games and the
between-games chatter), NHL on TSN during the week, all the Fox
affiliates, Rogers Sportsnet, MSG TV, the non-regional ESPN and ABC
games ... and all the World Juniors games Canada played in as a
surprise bonus in January! Here's hoping the NHL doesn't blow up 5
months from now. |
