I have a problem with my neighbor that lives on the building across my bedroom. She is an elder lady that puts TV on 15 hours per day every day from 7am to 10pm (legal hours) to an annoying volume level (not too loud, but constant mumbling sound). I work at home on the computer and it irritates me. The noise also wakes me up on a daily basis. I tried calling the police, but sometimes they tell me it is not loud enough. I also went arbitration but not much they could do either. Can somebody propose me any legal way I can stop this, or any way I can get back to her, legally of course? | |

Yes ... Old folk are often deaf and inconsiderate. And I'd bet that she'd refuse to wear headphones even if they were of solid gold and provided to her for zilch. I understand that there's some techy way of broadcasting a complementary sound that will silence her noise but I wouldn't know how. |

I support trying the headphone idea anyway. You will get more bees with honey than with vinegar. You can make her a gift of these wireless headphones that work with any TV for a mere $39. A small price to pay for peace (in more ways than one). If she refuses them, you can always use them yourself. Either way HER noise will be a thing of the past. http://www.unwiredtechnology.com/3000-990916.html Alternatively you can fight fire with fire and introduce your noisy neighbor to a variety of Barney the Dinosaur and Rap albums through a strategically placed Bose speaker. If it made Iraquis surrender it'll work on her too. tutuzdad |

i did some research, and there is really nothing legally that can be done. Have you filed a complaint with your rental company or whoever owns your building? Have you considered moving apartments either in your complex or to a new place? That's really all that can be done...either the rental company can do something for you out of the kindness of their heart or policy maybe after a few complaints, or you have to do it yourself. nenna- GA |

OK ... Then buy some heavy duty ear muffs .. http://www.shepherdsflock.com/earmuffs.html#Spe. Which colour do you prefer? (Please note that we spell 'color' correctly where I live.) |
