Hi donzilla-ga!

The American Society of Plastic Surgeons
(http://www.plasticsurgery.org) has a wealth of statistics relating to
all types of cosmetic surgery, including breast implants. I found it
to be invaluable in compiling this answer for you.

[American Society of Plastic Surgeons Statics Page]
http://www.plasticsurgery.org/public_education/Statistical-Trends.cfm

Here you can access statistical and trend data for a number of years,
until 2003 at the time of this writing.

The web site also has a PDF document which is linked as "Costs" from
the statistics page, which I believe contains the specific data you
are seeking.

[American Society of Plastic Surgeons Cost Statistics]
http://www.plasticsurgery.org/public_education/loader.cfm?url=/commonspot/security/getfile.cfm&PageID=6065

2002:
Average procedure cost: $3,436
Total Spent: $814,011,604
(source: ASPS 2002 Cost Statistics-
http://www.plasticsurgery.org/public_education/loader.cfm?url=/commonspot/security/getfile.cfm&PageID=6065)

2001:
Average procedure cost: $3043
Total Spent: $668,997,098
(source: ASPS 2001 Average Physicians Fees Table-
http://www.plasticsurgery.org/public_education/loader.cfm?url=/commonspot/security/getfile.cfm&PageID=1911)

2000:
Average Procedure Cost: $3116
Total Spent: $662,217,415
(source: ASPS Average Physicians Fees Table-
http://www.plasticsurgery.org/public_education/loader.cfm?url=/commonspot/security/getfile.cfm&PageID=1937)

It should be noted that this data is based on average cost, so it is
an estimate, but should be considered close. The data also would not
include procedures performed by a physician who was not a member of
the American Society of Plastic Surgeons- however, the ASPS represents
94% of plastic surgeons in the United States.

Data is available for previous years, going back to 1992- all
documents are linked from the main statistics page on the right.

[ASPS Statistical Trends, 2000-2003]
http://www.plasticsurgery.org/public_education/loader.cfm?url=/commonspot/security/getfile.cfm&PageID=12552

This page provides statistical trend data for cosmetic surgery
procedures done for the last several years.

I hope this information is useful to you. If you have need of further
clarification, please do not hesitate to ask.

Best regards, and thanks for using Google Answers!

Hi again, donzilla-ga!

I failed to mention that many of these documents require Adobe's
Acrobat reader, available for no cost at
http://www.adobe.com/products/acrobat/readstep2.html.

Also, some of the URLs I posted are long enough that they may be
wrapped in your browser window. If you receive errors trying to
acccess, you may have to copy/paste the URL into your web browser.

Thanks again!
