I am looking for examples of museum advertising materials used in the
last 3-5 years, specifically examples of materials showing people
either in foreground or background intended to suggest they are museum
visitors or its target audience. Depictions of people as subjects of
exhibits are also of interest as part of the reply. The reply should
include examples of diversity. Materials may be from publications,
internet, posters or promotional literature. 8 or more examples are
needed. Examples may be supplied in any format. Direction to
sufficient suitable and available sources is sufficient.

Hello jgr3000-ga,

This was a very enjoyable research project as it gave me a chance to
visit a wide variety of museums online. Museums increasingly have an
online presence and use their website to promote their offerings.
Aside from the website itself, brochures are the most common
promotional materials used by museums. Historical and industrial
museums tend to have brochures that show people as subjects. This type
of museums also frequently have interactive exhibits and illustrate
visitor participation in their brochures. I?ve grouped the material
I?ve found according to your categories. In addition, I?ve also
included a selection of general museum sites that I found helpful in
this search.

I hope that you will find the materials I?ve collected meet your
needs. Please don?t hesitate to ask for clarification on anything that
is not clear.

Best wishes for your project.

deepened understanding of their own times through a personal encounter
with the New England past.

The Village is a nonprofit educational institution. Its collections,
exhibits, and programs present the story of everyday life in a small
New England town during the years 1790 to 1840.

***** This is an excellent website that illustrates the museum?s

Negro Leagues Baseball Museum brochure

http://www.nlbm.com/s/visit.htm
The Negro Leagues Baseball Museum is NOT a Hall of Fame. Often the
museum is referred to as the "Negro Leagues Hall of Fame" or "Black
Baseball Hall of Fame" and various names. It is important to the
museum that we not be referred to as such. The NLBM was conceived as a
museum to tell the complete story of Negro Leagues Baseball, from the
average players to the superstars. We feel VERY strongly that the
National Baseball Hall of Fame, in Cooperstown, NY, is the proper
place for recognition baseball's greatest players. The Negro Leagues
existed in the face of segregation. Baseball's shrines should not be
segregated today. Therefore, the NLBM does not hold any special
induction ceremonies for honorees. As space allows, we include
information on every player, executive, and important figure. However,
we do give special recognition in our exhibit to those Negro Leaguers
who have been honored in Cooperstown.

***** This website offers lots of photos about the Negro Leagues as
well as some pictures with visitors enjoying the museum and its
traveling exhibits.

This was a great response because it was very well targeted to my
specific request, provided more examples than requested, added a
dimension I had not asked for, and was very timely. This was money
well spent because it opened up several previously unanticipated
avenues for further exploration, and got a stalled project moving
again when time was essential.
